On December 25th our baby girl was
born almost 3 months premature.
Weighing just over 2 pounds, Her
arms and legs looked like breadsticks.
Her head was the size of a small
apple. Her whole hand could fit on
the top part of your thumb. Since she
was born with almost no fat, you could
swear you saw her veins right through
her skin. To anyone else she barely
looked human, but to us she was the
most beautiful baby we had ever
seen. With lots of love, prayers and
expert care, she beat the odds,
survived and thrived.
Each year according to the March of
Dimes, 500,000 babies are born
prematurely in the U.S. and the
numbers are increasing at an
alarming rate. These babies come
into the world before they are ready
and many struggle to survive.
Prematurity is the leading killer of
newborns. The dedicated doctors,
nurses and staff at each Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ensure
these babies are given the best odds
of surviving. To them we say..........
